After a tube of glucogel, the team made their way off the moor with the casualty being able to walk, albeit very slowly, back to the RV at the roadhead. The team were deployed to RV at Edale Nags Head and start some hasty searches. As team members were on their way, a further call came in that the couple had managed to walk back to their car as it turned out not to be a leg injury, but a wrist. Ringing Roger
Incident 49 - Monday 5th May 2025, 16:10hrs Derbyshire Police were contacted by a hillwaker who had heard cries for help, and spotted a party waving their arms in an urgent manner. The hill walker was an ex-MRT member from the lakes so gave a credible report with good location information. A small party from the team on their way back from bank holiday fundraising duties were dispatched to assess the incident, prior to deploying the whole team. Once in Edale they did some detective work, speaking to walkers coming off the hill by the routes earlier identified, but no further cries for help had been heard, or distressed parties seen. There was a lot of activity in the Edale valley, with Derbyshire FIre and Rescue Service dealing witha. potential moorland fire, so it would well have been related to that. The area concerned does have phone signal, and being a bank holiday there were lots of folk out and about so any distressed party would have been able to summon further assistance. This was likely a false alarm with good intent.

The team were able to deploy quickly as several team members were already in Edale to support the Skyline race. Team members headed up the hill and after assessment supported most of the group to walk down and carried the injured party member out on a stretcher.

Hollin’s Cross
Incident 31 - Thursday 20th March 2025 13:05hrs At almost exactly the same time as incident 30 the team received a second call; this time to a fallen walker near Hollin’s Cross (again with a lower leg injury). Due to most team members already being committed to incident 30, Buxton MRT was called in to help our local team members who had diverted from the first job. The walker was packaged on a MR stretcher before being brought back down to the road head for onward transport to hospital.

Eyam
Incident 30 - Thursday 20th March 2025 13:00hrs After a quiet few days the good weather resulted in a call to Eyam village. A walker had taken a slip on the bridle way above the village resulting in a painful ankle injury. Fortunately they were able to give us a proper old fashioned six figure grid reference which took us directly to their location. The walker was splinted and evacuated back down to the road in one of our vehicles tor onward transport to hospital.
